Jimmy Valentine's is trying to stay off the radar -- no sign, no telephone number -- but it's so cool that it might not manage it for long. If you remember the old Kingpin, with its comfortable couches, bottle-only beer selection and the occasional DJ spinning classic hip-hop or forward-thinking dance music, you'll love Jimmy Valentine's. The addition of a photo booth and choice malt liquors is icing. Just don't go expecting a welcome with open arms.

While I am glad that DC is finally moving beyond the standard lounge-pub-prep bar options, the proprietors of this place are so freaking cranky that I would rather spend my money on corner store Boones wine. Also, it is supposed to be a dive bar, but everyone is wearing the black tat uniform, like little soldiers of Williamsburg NY 10 years ago.
