Santa Fe Cafe

Sports Bar, College Scene, Dance Club, Patio/Rooftop, Bar

Editorial Review

The Santa Fe Cafe is a mainstay on the University of Maryland bar circuit, yet even die-hard Terps might not recognize its interior these days. The most striking difference is a new stage, a sign the bar may be looking to reclaim its former status as a hotspot for live bands. A DJ has provided the entertainment in recent years. Management has also added couches for extra seating.

Some things never change, however. Every Tuesday, "Dollar Bud Night" still makes this place the bar of choice for students in College Park. On Thursdays and Fridays, the Fe is also the locals' popular choice for happy hour. With several outside tables, this is an ideal place to enjoy a Western-style menu under the stars on a warm night, and the cozy, comfortable booths make for a relaxing place to dine inside. The bartending staff is capable and the shots are a good value.

One reminder to drivers: If you're there before 10 p.m., be sure to keep change in the parking meter along the street outside. The ticket writers in College Park are extremely efficient.
