Visiting DC fills one with anticipation of the fine eats and service at the Tabard - there's always savory variety on the menu, great desserts, service we've had is always excellent, the bread is too good, and overall a dependable good dining experience. A few of my foodie friends think the Tabard is over rated, and that's good - less hassle for our next request for a seating.
Yes, it has creaky charm but service was terrible. Our party of four did not finish more than several bites per dish and no one asked why. Not a pleasant dining experience. Go only for drinks (if you must) but avoid the mistake of eating here.
The place was very nice and cozy and the table wasn't bad. But the first sign of what was to come was when we ordered Martinis and they were warm, next the glass had lipstick on it, when they replaced them, guess what,, warm again! there were a few other issues but enough said, im not going back.
