Editorial Review

This '30s art deco movie theater reopened in 1998 with a few vestiges of its past (vintage theatrical stage, 200 plush balcony seats) and new accommodations: The tri-level orchestra section was gutted and replaced with tables and a wooden dance floor. The venue holds 500 if everyone is seated, almost twice that when the tables are cleared. There are two full bars and pretty good food. The State hosts a wide variety of genres, including classic rock, tribute bands, reggae and rock en espanol.
