There's nothing like a warm and hearty brunch. Here are some of our favorites.

Bourbon

Washington, DC

Good cocktails and make-them-your-way scrambles, along with classics such as crab quiche and French toast (flavored with honey liqueur). $6.50-$10.50 for most plates. Saturday and Sunday.

Chesapeake Room

Washington, DC

A menu of goodies including an oyster stew rich with bacon and bourbon cream, classic Senate bean soup and a tight stack of fried green tomatoes and blue crab. $4-$14. Saturday and Sunday.

Chick and Ruth's Delly

Annapolis, MD

Breakfast foods are served all day, every day, and in a kitschy local twist, many plates are named after politicians or political offices. $4.35-$10.25.

EatBar

Arlington, VA

The surprisingly kid-friendly brunch shows cartoons and kids movies on the big screen while serving breakfast classics alongside a great potato leek frittata and a killer burger. $6-$14. Saturdays and Sundays.

Hollywood East Cafe

Wheaton, MD

For traditional dim sum, look to this Chinese kitchen, which delivers the goods every day: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the weekend. Selections range from $3.25-$6.25.

Masa 14

Washington, DC

The $35 prix-fixe option lets you enjoy as many regular brunch menu items as you would like and includes a bottomless supply of a variety of cocktails, including a rye bacon bloody mary. Saturday and Sunday.

Matchbox

Washington, DC

The unlikely star here is warm, comforting, whole-grain oatmeal, with enhancements such as caramelized bananas, candied pecans and cinnamon-infused milk. $6-$14, oatmeal $8. Saturday and Sunday.

Mosaic Cuisine and Cafe

Rockville, MD

Waffle-obsessed Thierry Jugnet has imported custom-built irons and perfected his batter. The standout results are served, along with other brunch foods, every day until 2. $4.50-$11.95.

Tabard Inn

Washington, DC

One of the top brunches in this city. From the homemade doughnuts to the seafood gumbo, everything is well-balanced, thoughtful and delicious, and served in a setting as appropriate for visiting parents as for dates. Entrees $11-$17. Saturday and Sunday.
