The 138th running of the Kentucky Derby is this Saturday, with post time at 6:24 p.m. Don't worry if you can't make it to Louisville -- you can still sip mint juleps, snack on derby pie and wear a big hat at one of these local events.
Multiple Locations
Kentucky's most famous export is probably bourbon whiskey, and one of the city's best Kentucky Derby parties is at a bar that celebrates it. Both branches of Bourbon get in the spirit of the day with traditional mint juleps served in frosted metal cups and free passed hors d'oeuvres, including mini Kentucky hot browns and crust-less cucumber sandwiches. While you wait for post time, you can peruse the racing form sheets left on the bars -- in case you want to make a "friendly wager."
