Serrano, a Mexican poet, translator and editor, joins Berroa, a poet and a professor of Spanish literature at George Mason University, for a discussion of the life and legacy of surrealist poet Odysseas Elytis (1911-1996) in the West Dining Room. Elytis, the second Greek poet to win the Nobel Prize for Literature (1979), had an outsized influence on Hispanic literature in the 1930's and 1940s, which will be the focus of the lecture.
