Close observers of the scene might recognize a name or two. “Academy 2012” features work by Samuel Scharf, who also was in last year’s “Academy.” Selin Balci popped up recently at Hamiltonian Gallery and Ben Tolman has been exhibiting around town for several years. Others, like photographer Aaron Canipe, will be familiar only to folks who made it to his thesis exhibition at the Corcoran College of Art and Design.

Beating the bushes is a tough job. Thankfully, Jamie Smith -- who once again brings her keen curatorial eye to the show -- is there to do it for us.
