Last May, three Baltimore area artists were announced as winners of the Baker Artist Awards, with $25,000 checks going to installation artist Jonathan Latiano, self--taught photographer Lynne Parks and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra cellist Dariusz Skoraczewski. First awarded in 2009, the Baker prize is unusual among several local art awards in that it considers performing artists as well as visual artists.
On Wednesday, the Baltimore Museum of Art will open an exhibition showcasing the work of the three winners, including Latiano’s rendering of dolphins in driftwood and Parks’s photographs of dead birds. Skoraczewski will be represented by a performance video.
