Studio 1469 is not easy to find. The multipurpose arts space, which from time to time serves as a beautiful little gallery, sits in a renovated garage in Columbia Heights at the end of an alley off 15th Street NW, between Harvard Street and Columbia Road. It’s worth looking for.
The exhibition “Body of Work,” which opens Friday with a reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., is also about things that are hidden. In Evan Hume’s found photographs of purported UFOs, and in Alan Callander’s video installation and Jenny Walton’s monoprints ---- both of which explore themes of health and the human body ---- semi--abstract imagery is used to suggest the state of the unseen universe.
