Opportunities to press your face up to Kate Moss's eyeball don't come often enough. Here's your chance: She, along with several luminaries of contemporary art, make up Chuck Close's mammoth portrait tapestries on view at Adamson. Images derived from daguerreotype documents of the creative class were translated into digital commands for a high-tech Belgian loom, which spun these masterpieces from a fine thread that registers remarkable subtleties. From afar they have the shimmer of the daguerreotypes that inspired them; up close they're as matte as Grandma's quilts. The works recall art forms of centuries past, but the pantheon they depict is totally 2007.
