Chuck Close's tapestries of President Obama

Please note: This event has already occurred.
In time for inauguration, the National Portrait Gallery offers visitors a chance to see two new jacquard tapestry portraits created by the artist Chuck Close after an hour-long photo shoot with the president last summer. Close created the works based on Polaroids, which are then woven into sprawling portraits, each nearly eight feet tall and more than six feet across. The resulting pieces look like photos but feel like textiles.
