While D.C. area families are busy shopping for school supplies, picking classes, and learning bus schedules, Washington’s National Building Museum ---- dedicated to architecture, engineering and design ---- takes a look at the schools themselves. “Green Schools,” on view through January, is the first museum exhibition dedicated to the greening of American schools. It explores environmentally sustainable practices in architecture, lighting, water systems, gardens, lunch, and recycling ---- and there’s no test afterwards.
