Artist Jessica van Brakle is known for hard--edged paintings that harness the expressive potential of construction equipment, not only in the abstract beauty of grids and sharp angles, but also in the power of the machine as a metaphor for man’s dominion over nature. “Industrial Paradise,” a selection of her recent works that juxtapose the mechanical and the organic, opens Thursday at Artisphere with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. At 7, the artist will discuss her work with Arlington collectors Philippe and Jackie Loustaunau, who sat on the panel that selected van Brakle for the show.
