Editorial Review

Renee Butler's breezy video installation "Entering Emptiness" involves two projectors screening video of the ocean shot at various times of day. The montage, projected on fluttering scrims hung from the gallery ceiling, captures a spectrum of colors, from cool blue and purple to hot red and orange. The projectors act as surrogates for the sun, alternately attracting and hurting our eyes. Butler's soundtrack of recorded boardwalk sounds reminds us we're in Miami, not Eden. Also on view, Joe White's watercolors of Miami deco facades.
