Painter and printmaker Monica Jahan-Bose, leads "Her Words," a project that celebrates women's literacy in Katakhali, Bangladesh. Jahan-Bose, whose family is originally from the island, worked with 12 Katakhali women who have learned to read with the help of Samhati, a Maryland-based non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in Bangladesh. Using the women's stories as inspiration, Jahan-Bose created large-scale, wood-block prints on saris.
