Outsider art -- a.k.a. folk, visionary, untrained or sometimes just plain weird art -- is the focus of a group exhibition opening Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery. “Messages From Outsiderdom” will feature work by well-known outsider artists, including Washington’s own Lee Wheeler and Matt Sesow.

Can’t make the opening? Stop by June 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., when the gallery hosts a talk with outsider-art experts Rebecca Hoffberger, founder and director of Baltimore’s American Visionary Art Museum, and the show’s curator, Mary Ellen “Dolly” Vehlow, owner of Gallery O on H.
