On Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., as it does on the first Friday of every month, Hillyer Art Space will host a reception for three new ---- and, as usual, quite diverse ---- exhibitions.
In “The Corrections,” painter Sherry Zvares Sanabria will showcase a selection of moody scenes from her ongoing series of images set in abandoned prisons, asylums, concentration camps and slave quarters. For “Paint as Object,” artist Annie Farrar has fashioned monochromatic abstract sculptures from everyday objects. And finally, Elizabeth Holtry’s “High Society” will feature the artist’s embroidered “drawings” of hyenas on upholstery cloth, in a wry ---- if not perverse ---- commentary on attraction and repulsion.
