Organized around the theme of softness, the group exhibition “Softer, Softest” includes pieces by artists best known for working with such genteel material as dolls, fiber, flowers and embroidery. The show opens Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at Delicious Spectacle, a “curatorial experiment and project space” on the first floor of a Columbia Heights rowhouse. The work ---- by Megan Blafas, Rania Hassan, Matt Hollis, Leslie McConnaughey, Rene Medrano, Ziad Nagy, Cory Oberndorfer, John Paradiso, Jane Claire Remick and Jade Yumang ---- may be soft, but much of it is hard to forget.

Organized by performance artist Eames Armstrong’s Aether Art Projects, the visual art show will be complemented by performances June 7 at 8 p.m. by Anya Liftig, Matthew Ryan Rossetti and Hoesy Corona. There will be a closing reception June 19 from 7 to 9 p.m.
