Kyle J. Bauer’s sculptural abstractions exist in a space between pop art and surrealism: brightly colored constructions of wood, ceramic and mixed media that resemble toys for which you’ve lost the instructions.
Bauer is just one of seven artists in the spotlight at the Arlington Arts Center’s “Spring Solos,” a cluster of micro--exhibitions that showcase rising talent. In addition to the Baltimore--based Bauer, this year’s lineup includes Phillip Adams, Benjamin Andrew, Alex Arzt, Elizabeth Kauffman, Salvatore Pirrone and Colleen McCubbin Stepanic. The show opens with a public reception Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.
