Favorite Things in Old Town, Alexandria

As a resident of Old Town, these are my favorite things!

Excellent, casual brunch buffet here. If you're looking for quality biscuits and gravy, chipped beef, fried potatoes, and country ham for breakfast... this is your place.

Cute little cafe and bakery. Stop in for coffee and a baby cupcake... great for when you just want to be a little bad.

Food is good, but restaurant is a little loud for me (Flamenco dancing). I go here for the beautiful bar. Good Sangria, relaxing vibe. It reminds me of being in Spain, really.

Patio is amazing! Wonderful place for a late lunch on a warm Saturday afternoon. The salads are great.

Cool Irish bar. Feisty Irish bartenders! There's a patio on the upper level. No lame singing or anything cheesy like that. Just a nice bar/restaurant. Great pour of wine too.

If you like Oysters, this is a must. Cool concept for a restaurant. Pick your oysters (location, size, etc.). Pick your sides (traditional dishes taken up a few notches). Done. And... you get goldfish crackers as a complimentary snack and chunks of chocolate when you're done!

Quality seafood. Plain and simple. Nothing fancy, but consistent. Great service too. Awesome crab cakes. I also recommend the Crab/Crawfish Imperial.

Casual neighborhood bar full of locals. Super friendly. Comfort foods like Mom would make. Everything comes with bread and butter pickles! Mmmm meatloaf.

Small, casual, family-owned Thai restaurant. Best I've ever had. The soups are out of this world. Check out the husband's coffee shop around the corner, "Perks." He carries a bunch of British treats.

Kind of a tourist fav, but the spiced shrimp is worth it. They make it with loads of butter and pickling spices. I also recommend the steamed seafood medley. Served in a bag of foil with potatoes, tomatoes, and tons of yummy broth, this dish also requires bread for sopping!
