Dine Out & Support Columbia Heights Day

Editorial Review

It's easy to fall in love with Columbia Heights Day, a relatively new annual neighborhood fest that includes a cupcake-eating contest, a petting zoo and plenty of live music. This year's event isn't until Aug. 29, but tonight, neighbors and non-neighbors alike can support the all-volunteer effort with their dining dollars. Some locations like the Looking Glass Lounge and Wonderland are making a lump-sum donation to the Columbia Heights Day crew. Other locations -- CommonWealth, Tonic, the Heights, RedRocks, Rita's Water Ice and Panda Express -- will donate up to 15 percent of sales to the cause. Last year, the promotion raised $1,200 for the festival. With more restaurants participating this year, organizers hope to bring in $2,000.
