Firefly Festival

Editorial Review

Like the tech crew of a high school musical, fireflies play a backstage role at most summer outdoor events. But this, the nature center's first-ever fest devoted to lighting bugs, gives families a chance to celebrate the critters who make summer twilights so magical. Bring a picnic blanket and supper, and in-between bites, you can learn how to tell fireflies apart, what makes them glow and how easy it would be if all you had to do was blink to find a date. Kids can also make a glow necklace, go hunting for bugs after dark and sit around a campfire for firefly folklore. Sounds like a ready-made summer night to remember.
