While beers from Europe and California dominate the dreams of beer geeks, we've got some pretty good offerings made here in our own backyard. The proof lies at the Maryland Brewer's Springfest, where a dozen breweries and brewpubs from across the Free State are bringing their top taps to Harry Grove Stadium for a full day of tasting. Instead of driving all over the map -- Baltimore for the latest Belgian wonders at Brewers Art; Hyattsville to sample British-style ales at Franklins; Frederick for German-inspired lagers from Brewer's Alley -- it only takes one trip to sample them all. The day is about more than just beer, of course, with live music by the Reagan Years and the Freddie Long Band, among others, and plenty of activities for children.

Admission is $17 ($20 at the gate) and includes a mug and six drink tokens.
