National Cherry Blossom Festival

Please note: This event has already occurred.
The National Cherry Blossom Festival -- all 16 days of it -- always seems to come and go about as quickly as the cherry blossoms themselves. But the 2012 festival marks the 100th anniversary of Tokyo's gift to the United States, and to mark the centennial, the festival will last a full five weeks, making one of Washington's most visible annual traditions feel like a miniature season all its own. Included in that stretch: the Blossom Kite Festival (March 31), the Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival (April 7) and the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade and Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival (April 14).
