On Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., the American University Museum will host a reception for five exhibitions that are joining the museum’s ongoing retrospective “Revelation: Major Paintings by Jules Olitski.”

The fresh crop includes shows by two longtime Washingtonians: “Inside the Underworld: Beetle Magic,” an insect-themed show by sculptor Joan Danziger, and a video by painter Carol Brown Goldberg called “The Color of Time,” created in collaboration with filmmaker Anthony Szulc.

Also on tap are photographs (“Ivan Pinkava: Remains 1997-2010”), pop-surrealist paintings (“David Humphrey: Pets, a President and the Others”) and mixed-media work (“Matthew Kenyon: Flash Crash”).
