It's Passport DC, a series of embassy tours, open houses and other cultural events that give you the chance to trot the globe without needing to apply for a tourist visa. Some important dates to fill out your itinerary: The European Union's embassies open their doors for tours May 7, while more than 30 embassies from Australia to Venezuela follow suit for the Around the World Embassy Tour on May 14.
The National Asia Heritage Festival takes to the streets May 21, along with the kid-friendly Meridian International Children's Festival. Visit www.culturaltourismdc.org for a list of participating embassies. Most events are free.
