The Smithsonian's annual Folklife Festival on the Mall provides a great way to celebrate cultural diversity. The festival, which returns July 2-6, highlights the cultural practices of China and Kenya: You'll have the chance to learn more about Chinese traditions, such as water calligraphy, and about how Kenyans preserve their heritage in the 21st century. The festival's marketplace, near the entrance of the National Museum of American History, is where to find vendors selling jewelry, clothing, books, art and more. And in the after-hours, starting Thursday, musicians perform on the Ngoma Stage and at the Moonrise Pavilion.
