The Washington area's biggest professional cycling event, the Air Force Cycling Classic, is a summer tradition, transforming Clarendon's pedestrian-friendly retail and dining corridor into a breakneck, five-turn, one-kilometer proving ground for some of the world's best riders. If you get there early enough, you can score a course-side seat at one of the many neighborhood restaurants, including 3 Bar and Grill, Lyon Hall or Pete's Apizza. Best of all, you can join in the fun: Besides the pro races, the two-day event features children's and amateur races and a non-competitive ride in Crystal City. NOTE: The Clarendon Cup course begins and ends just outside Clarendon Metro.
