In July 2000, the Mousetrap -- Washington's only club night focused on British pop and dance music -- moved to the Black Cat. After almost a year of packed nights at the Metro Cafe, it had simply outgrown that venue.

About time, too, as crowds pack the Black Cat's main room each month - often selling it out - to dance to the likes of Oasis, Primal Scream and the Happy Mondays. Thanks to the persistence of DJ Mark Zimin, it looks like Washington finally has a place for boys who like girls who like boys to be girls who...well, you know.

Starting at 9:30, Zimin will spin hits from Blur, the Stone Roses, My Bloody Valentine, Beck, Belle & Sebastian, Stereolab, Pulp and dozens more English (and Anglophile) bands. The all-ages party continues until 2 a.m.
