Editorial Review

The folks at the Puppet Company, which has been around since 1983, know their stuff. They focus principally on kid-lit staples, from "Jack and the Beanstalk" to Beatrix Potter tales. Shows are the perfect length for fidget-prone youngsters -- about 40 minutes. Children sit on a comfy carpeted floor, with grown-ups to each side, so sight lines aren't blocked. The productions resist the urge to hip it up -- there are few double entendres or gags pitched at parents. Instead, the Puppet Company presents the classics dependably.

For youngsters who might be frightened by the occasionally scary marionette, puppeteers meet the children at the end of each show.
