Victoria Fu’s quietly evocative work stood out amid the clutter and bustle of last year’s (e)merge art fair, using film projection to call viewers’ attention not only to the screen image, but also to the screen itself, as well as the room in which the viewers were standing.
On Thursday from 6 to
8 p.m., Flashpoint Gallery will host an opening reception for the artist’s “A Cloud Is Not a Sphere.” Incorporating photography and projection, the exhibition explores the tension between the real and the representational, and the difference between our experience of physical vs. cinematic space.
