Squirrels and birds dart among the cypress, and dragonflies buzz all about. A boardwalk leads through the swamp (operated by the Nature Conservancy, it's the only one of its kind in Maryland). While the oddly shaped trees themselves are the star attraction, the sanctuary's nature center displays other interesting residents from snakes to opossum, salamanders to turtles and features a typical hands-on area.
