If getting an outdoor workout is a priority, head to Fenwick Island to learn the relatively new sport of stand-up paddling.

DelMarVa Board Sport Adventures, an outfitter that recently opened shop next to Harpoon Hanna's, will offer paddleboard and windsurfing-board rentals, sales, lessons, eco-tours and even paddleboard yoga sessions. Renters can depart right from the waterfront shop, or have boards delivered to a different location. Special excursions include a paddleboard eco-adventure on Assateague Island and a sunset dolphin excursion at Cape Henlopen State Park.

Janis Markopoulos, who owns the company with husband George, said most first-time paddlers "are up and paddling comfortably in 10 minutes." Just make sure to hit Harpoon Hanna's tiki bar after the lesson.
