Given that High Places Orchards is only a stones throw from some of the elite vineyards in the state (i.e. Linden and Rappahannock), it makes sense that it has some of the best fruit around. Known mostly for his apples, Ed Streapy (the owner), also has a number of other fruit trees. We generally go to Ed's in mid-late July for white peaches and for some of the early apples like Ginger Gold. Then we go again in September-October for the more traditional apples. High Places has some of the best Giant Winesap, Ginger Gold, and Rome apples you'll ever have. And at $14/bushel (8 gallons), you can't beat the price. When you arrive, park along the driveway and if Ed isn't outside, knock on the door to the house and he'll get you started.
