I previously thought this theater poorly managed, until I switched to Potomac Yard for Met HD performances! PY does not label the auditorium for Met performances; Management posts whatever current film is showing (usually children's films) and parents/children mistakenly file in throughout the performance -- very distracting. It took several years before Ballston Management conceived a strategy for Met patrons that runs efficiently. Ballston has evolved into a civilized place for the arts crowd. PY... go elsewhere if you do not appreciate kids interrupting your Met performance.
Do not watch a movie here. The theatre is understaffed so the lines are long. The theatre is dirty and the staff are discourteous. I have complained numerous times to the management at the local and corporate level to no avail. Go watch a movie at the Drafthouse or the Courthouse theatres instead. If you much watch a movie released in a regal theatre go to the Regal Georgetown for a much better experience.
