Editorial Review

The film is screened in conjunction with the exhibit "Close Up in Black: African American Film Posters." It will be introduced by Joe Barber, a Washington entertainment critic.

Dorothy Dandridge and Harry Belafonte lead the stellar cast in this Hollywood remake of the Broadway hit, an Americanized version of Bizet's opera "Carmen." Dandridge lost the Best Actress Oscar to Grace Kelly, who won for her portrayal of Georgie Elgin in "The Country Girl."
