Jack the Giant Slayer is an okay movie. Interestingly, it could have been better, and would have drawn more attention, if it were split into two movies. Just when the audience thinks it over, it starts up again, only to fall flat (as it were). What I would call the Giants' Revenge disservices the movie. Too bad this part wasn't fleshed out as its own movie. Jack would have had a Giant of a franchise on his hands.
This film is not getting the ratings it deserves. If you go to the movies to be entertained, with your family, and like a little escapism, this is your movie. Depending on your kids, this movie is fine for 8 and older. Our kids love the movie. There is no gory details or inappropriate cursing for any reason. The story has only mild twists to it and is not too hard to follow for younger kids. The acting was done well and I enjoyed watching this cast. Give it a chance, I did and was happy to spend the time with my family at a movie that I also enjoyed.
