This is 3D film-making come of age. Beautifully used, it was not in-your-face 3D with thrills and spills. It was beautifully wrapped around an extremely fine visual treat. The story of course is timeless and thoughtful and the movie did everything to hold it up. Richard Parker, the tiger was spectacular. If for him alone, I hope the main story was true!
In the movie "the life of Pi", The tiger means China;the man"Pi" means Taiwan. China always wants to "eat" Taiwan in short distance of Taiwan Strait, the cruel fact that makes Taiwan struggles hard every day.
If you want to be amazed in a movie then Life of Pi is an Action-tragedy about a nabs story. Although there is some things I don't understand, still i can't forget the instincts that take over when a persons life is on the line. I read the book but never understood fully of what the story is really about until I saw the move it made it better to understand the movie.
Yes, there are differences between the two, OF COURSE. BUT, I loved, Loved, LOVED both! Run, do not walk, to the theater and see this. You will be thinking about it long after it is over. Would give if more than 4 stars, if possible. It's truly magical.
this review was insightful and thoughtful! i LOVED the book and ENJOYED the movie immensely. :)
The novel's ending reveals a gruesome truth about Pi and the tiger, yet I get the feeling from the reviews I have read that this plot twist has been eliminated. Does Anna survive in the new Anna Karenina, too?
