This highly stylized adaptation of the popular "Max Payne" video game is 70 percent dark, snowy atmospherics and 30 percent loud, violent action.

Mark Wahlberg is the proverbial New York cop on the edge searching for the killers of his wife and baby. Sexy girls and lots of automatic weapons are involved in an occasionally coherent plot. Special effects range from interesting to pedestrian. The whole thing ends with a New York skyscraper exploding.
