Intimately committed to the Words

Movie versions of Shakespeare's plays often distract you with too much scenery, music, and non-verbal goings-on that distract from the words themselves. Joss Whedon managed to bipass that with aplomb. I came out of the theater wondering how he managed to maintain the intimacy of the words - you actually felt like you saw a live performance, not a movie - with the audience's spontaneous applause at the end being a natural reaction! Well, Joss Whedon's comic book writing experiences gave me my A-ha! moment! The intimacy of the conversations, the faces often in close up - and to wrap up - the Black and White of it all, made sure the words were what mattered! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
