The trailer for this movie made it seem like the classic shoot-em up action move with a very shallow plot. However, this movie was surprising in the way it presented the terrorists' takeover of the White House as somewhat plausible. The scenes of the president being taken into the bunker and the Pentagon control room were shot really well. One thing about this movie was that it made the D.C. police and the Secret Service Agents look like buffoons. When the terrorists are invading the White House, a Secret Service agent dies about every two seconds. Overall, it is a movie that seems unappealing, but in the end it provides the viewer with a good taste in his mouth after the closing scene.
I went and saw this movie with two friends this week, and we were all on the edge of our seats. We all loved it and was actually scared because it seemed all too real! I give it four stars for action and for keeping me awake the entire time.
I don't get it this film delivered the same amount of action, excitement, and talent as any fictional film of its kind, yet the reviewers are slamming it. We praised the film "Air Force One" and though it conceivable that terrorist could commender the President's plane, yet we can't suspend disbelief to think the White House can't be taken-how arrogant. Again-its fiction. 9/11 happened and we prided ourselves on getting past it, but the critic says it's too soon for this kind of film. How long will be long enough? Not once while viewing this film was I traumatized by the experience nor was there a collective outrage in the theater I was in during the show. I enjoyed Olympus Has Fallen and would recommend others to see it.
What liberal moron came up with script? I have nothing good to say about this movie. When I go to the movies I am willing to dispel reality, to a point. But this takeover of the White House was so far fetched it could NEVER happen. Then throughout the movie they say we cannot negotiate with terrorists and they do it led by the bleeding heart Morgan Freeman. The movie makes the military and Secret Service look silly, meanwhile the Korean attackers look like...SealTeam 6??? Save your money!
This movie doesn't have a huge plot, and as RC said, is not academy award material. There were a couple of unrealistic scenes (sorry, no spoilers), but most of the movie is quite believable. It's scary to realize that something like this actually could happen. I liked Morgan Freeman as Secretary Trumbull (but then I've enjoyed almost everything he's done). Aaron Eckhart was OK as President Asher, although he reminded me a bit too much of Harrison Ford. I kept expecting him to tell the terrorists "Get out of my bunker!". But Gerard Butler did a good job as Mike Banning. Not as good as Bruce Willis in the Die Hard movies, but still quite credible. He shows what the right training and a little "inside information" is capable of.
Hey, good flick. It was fun with action and suspense. No, it is not an academy award winner. It is a fun film with some familiar faces. It was entertaining.
Its nice to see oriental villans again,,the action shown in the previews is in the first half,,at least the super hero isnt an aging shaved head typical like all the overaged types in the previewed movies,,wait for the dvd
Saw movie...very small story line...like a video game...shoot...stab...shoot....and stab...great for game players, maybe.

Even the trailer is offensive, with airplanes crashing into DC monuments and the White House. Don't go see this.
