Community lover reviews anti commy movie. Biased much?

The fact that this douche bag thinks it's wrong and "silly" to be anti-communist suggests that he knows nothing about communism, why it doesn't work, and why it's such a hated form of government. Do any of you liberal socialist hacks really believe it's right for people doing little work to reap the benefits of those doing hard work? Because that's what socialism and communism is. Everyone paid equal regardless of the work performed. No one has the right to the fruits of others' labor. THAT is what it means to be conservative. Obama was re-elected because there are far more lazy people than there are those with a strong work ethic.

WAPO shills for the progressives

So, who knew the trolls from Democratic Underground and Journo-list moonlighted at movie reviewers for WAPO?? I enjoyed the movie. American exceptionalism is not fodder for you fools. What's more, dude, freaking men being men!!! What is not to love, unless your are a lesbian, a metrosexual, or a feminazi like that dapper man Rachel Maddow?? Envious little trolls. From here we go watch some more real men killing and saving, Expendables II....the like of which will have you trolls verklempt and vaporlocked. I love that.

Wash Post Mocks Red Dawn Remake as Perfect for Paranoid Tea Partiers http://newsbusters.org/blogs/scott-whitlock/2012/11/21/wash-post-mocks-red-dawn-remake-perfect-paranoid-tea-partiers --- WHAT IN THE HELL DOES RED DAWN HAVE TO DO WITH THE TEA PARTY? HOW STUPID.

Leave it to the Post

To inject the Tea Party with a sneering, smug little aside. O'Sulllivan, you know nothing about the Tea Party, you have never been to a meeting or rally, you know nothing about communism. So you are a perfect fit for the Post. Happy Thanksgiving, you two-bit WP hack.

Why?

Why are people going to see this movie when they could be seeing Lincoln where astonishingly republicans are portrayed as good guys? That won't be happening again any time soon hey Rush.

Objection

The "old film's rabid anti-communism seemed slightly silly"? Would anybody ever say that rabid anti-nazism seems silly? Communism resulted in the deaths of tens of millions. Anti-communism is not silly - it's a moral imperative. Beyond that, of course it's silly to have the invaders be North Korean. For this version, they were supposed to be Chinese, but the lure of the Chinese market sidelined that.

so racist

the most blatant anti-asian propaganda... really sad. i truly hope that everyone associated with this money goes bankrupt and never sees future success in hollywood.

Flawed WaPo Review Lacks Key Context

What made the original Red Dawn unique is its role as the first major Hollywood movie since The Green Berets (1968) that portrayed contemporary military action in a positive light. It also came on the heels of Reagan's 'evil empie' speech and the successful US invasion of Grenada where, like the first Red Dawn, we were fighting Cuban communists, so the 'externals' helped the movie. Plus many young viewers could relate to those characters. Some of those kids are now adults greenlighting movies, hence the remake. Now, the military is portrayed mostly in a positive light in movies and TV, so that aspect for viewers is gone. Uncomfortably, we are usually the invading force facing insurgents. So the externals today work against the movie.

So bad it was great!

The original was terrible, but that doesn't mean it isn't great fun to watch. I caught it on TV recently, and loved every cheesy, overacted, implausible, unintentionally funny minute.

Missing the point

I think this movie and the reviewer missed the point about why the original was memorable. Of course Red Dawn wasn't good, it was awful, but it was an accurate reflection of the paranoia of the times. I remember as a kid I thought an invasion like that was very possible. My brother and I used to go play war in the woods, and we always fought against the "commies". It's strange to remember that now. Anyway, what is the point in remaking a movie that was so much a product of the era in which it was made?

North Koreans Are Hungry

I'm sure that if the North Koreans actually invaded the US, they would drop their weapons and start eating at the nearest McDonalds.

Fate1

Conservatives feed off fear? You mean like "The elderly are going to DIE without Obamacare!". "Romney will make womenfolk stay at home!". You mean that kind of fear?

garbage can

the original red dawn was made as reagan propaganda this one was made in preparation /expectation of romney victory to frighten people in support of excessive defense spending. neocon garbage

North Korea?

I remember the 1st version, it was a little far fetched, but at least you could believe the Soviets and their allies in Central/South America might be able to pull off an invasion. But North Korea? Brahahahahahahaha. I'm sure no reason is given, just the fear, conservatives feed off of fear.

Now, that's funny

North Korean invasion? Kinda says it all really.
