To answer to one of the questions below: the rich guy is now living in North Africa with his new wife and two adopted daughters. The helper has set up a company in North Africa with the financial help of the rich guy (who has basically set up his friend for life). They still regularly see each other and are best friends. Both have written books about their stories and you can find on youtube a documentary about the real guys.
Couldn't disagree more with the review. This movie is NOT about race but about two people coming from very different backgrounds striking an unlikely friendship. The real life characters are just like in the movie, no clichés here. I am a white French woman, and I didn't really notice the guy was ... black. He is very French, just brilliant. In real life, he was Algerian. It just happened that the actor cast for this role is black. Who cares.
This movie caught me by surprise. My daughter tried to see it in Madrid, but it was sold out everyday she was there. I certainly understand why it is so popular in Europe. This is a very relatable movie. It flowed wonderfully from scene to scene. I do believe I will see it again.
