The Queen of Versailles Critic's Pick

Average Reader Rating

Rename "Queen of V"

You will probably be aghast as you watch this film. There are so many excesses by this couple that they leave you with the impression that David Seigel was merely "Lotto Lucky" in his rise and couldn't properly cope with having so very, very much so very, very easily. In the end, he is not a victim of circcumstances or anything else but his own lack of responsibility. Probably, it would be better to rename this film "Excesses Amok" or better yet, "Totally Clueless".

A fascinating view of what's wrong, wrong, wrong

In America, we all want to be rich and famous. The Siegels were plenty rich, but not yet famous. Why else would anyone in their right minds invite a film-maker to record them over a period of years, anyway, if not but to show off? Thought they'd become famous in a Rockefeller kind of way. Instead, it's more like Jersey Housewives. Dog poo and caviar. After piling up billions from convincing unsophisticated time-share "mooches" (salesmen's word for the marks), Siegel's bubble burst in the 2008 credit squeeze. He feels sorry for self, blames evil bankers, refuses to cut losses & be a bit less rich. Silicone-pumped trophy wifey, poor thing, has to curtail buying a dozen of every crappy tacky thing she sees. Great movie. Horrible, sad people.
