The observatory lets you view the skies with a computer-controlled, 8-inch refracting telescope and is open to the public 5:30-10 p.m. every Thursday, weather permitting. The observatory is open to the elements, so dress appropriately. To make sure it is open on a given Thursday evening, call 410-545-2999 after 5 p.m. or check the Web site.

The observatory is located on the Maryland Science Center's roof. Enter on the southern side of the museum, through the doors facing Key Highway. Groups of 20 or more should call at least a week ahead.
