This was the home of Col. Henry Darnall, a wealthy Catholic planter and politician who was a friend and relative of Lord Baltimore. It was the birthplace of two of Darnall's great-grandsons: Archbishop John Carroll and Daniel Carroll II, a framer of the U.S. Constitution. The oldest home in the Prince George's County seat, the house was radically remodeled to Victorian Italianate style, then was rescued from demolition and restored to its original 1704 Georgian appearance.
