Evergreen House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is an Italianate structure on 26 wooded acres. Owned by the Garrett family from 1878 to 1942, the mansion, private theater, carriage house and formal gardens underwent two generations of adaptations and renovations.
The house, the residence of former Ambassador John Work Garrett and his wife, Alice Warder Garrett, was bequeathed
to the Johns Hopkins University in 1942 and is now open for tours.
