The Maryland College of Art & Design offers a variety of courses in emerging fields, such as Web page design, as well as in more traditional fields, like painting. The college, founded in 1957, offers associate degrees in fine arts and visual arts as well as non-degree classes. The private school is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Four full-time professors teach at the school as well as 15 part-time instructors.
