Today's first hour in the dance tent has been pretty much the complete antithesis of the ultra-professional manner in which things went down yesterday. Pittsburgh mashup artist Girl Talk (aka Greg Gillis) kept the warehouse party vibe going after Dan Deacon with a set that saw him bring about 20 friends up on stage to dance, striking plenty of fear into the sound crew looking to protect hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

Girl Talk seems custom made for today's short attention span society, throwing almost a hundred recognizable songs into his set. He had a few custom made mashups for the festival, throwing together tracks by Wu-Tang Clan, the Police and Smashing Pumpkins in rapidfire fashion. Gillis stood in front of a computer - there's no actual DJing involved in his act. It's fun but at the same time it's hard not to see it as pure novelty.

Sure, it's entertaining to hear a mashup of Lil' Mama's summer hit "Lip Gloss" and Neutral Milk Hotel's "Holland, 1945" but that's about all you can say for it. Every time the crowd recognized a song -- hey, it's "Whoomp (There It Is), I remember that one! -- a cheer went up. It's perfect for a party atmosphere and so it worked just fine today, but this pony certainly seems to have just one trick.
